The following ministry description is given for the Youth Pastor for New Hope Baptist Church.
For over three decades, New Hope has been preaching and teaching God’s Word, sharing the Gospel, and demonstrating the love of God within our community.  Our church family has a passion for God and a desire to grow closer to Him. The Youth Pastor will be someone with a passion and love for the Lord, His people, as well as a passion and love for young people.  It will be someone who is able to thrive in a team environment; someone able to envision and energize a ministry that is both grounded in the Word and balanced in its execution.
Full time position (40+ hours a week)
Full time salary with benefits (Salary negotiable upon experience)
Reports to the Senior Pastor of NHBC (in his absence, the deacons)
Displays a strong personal relationship with God
Understands and supports the doctrinal statement and core values of NHBC
Demonstrates godly character
Exercises his spiritual gifts on a consistent basis
Desires to serve the Lord and has a heart for missions
Education level desired; B.A., B.S. or equivalent certification, but not required with 3 or more years’ experience in youth ministry
Exhibits excellent communication skills
Ability to lead a group of volunteers in ministry
Initiative to plan, organize and execute ministry
Leverages technology to maximize ministry plans
Serves as a leader and supporter in a team environment
Musical experience desired
Reports to the Senior Pastor of NHBC.  In the absence of a Pastor, he will report to the deacons
Attends weekly meetings with the Pastor to pray, report and to discuss ministry progress and planning
Lead and/or coordinate both youth and children’s ministries
Willing to serve as needed in other areas of ministry at the discretion of the Senior Pastor, (i.e. Hospital visits, preaching)
Responsible to attend monthly meetings with Board of Deacons & team leaders of the church
Implement time management skills to schedule time wisely each week in order to accomplish administration needs, planning and goal setting
Specific to Youth Ministry (Grades 7-12)
Provide leadership and direction for NHBC’s youth ministry
Develop relationships with the parents and teenagers of NHBC
Participate in a visitation ministry to meet with parents and teenagers each month, i.e. 3 families
Responsible for recruiting and training youth leaders to assist in the youth ministry, i.e. 3 couples minimum
Plan and coordinate youth leader meeting and planning sessions once a month
Plan, implement and manage a weekly “WOL Club” on Wednesday evenings
Responsible for scheduling teachers for a Youth Sunday School Classes
Plan, coordinate and execute social and ministry events each month
Perform other tasks deemed necessary to the youth ministry by the Pastor and deacons
Specific to Children’s Ministry (Infants – 6th Grade)
Oversee all special ministries relating to children
Provide leadership and direction for NHBC’s children’s ministry
Oversee lay leadership for all NHBC’s children’s ministries (Awana, Children’s church, Nursery & Upwards basketball) providing leadership and direction
Every other year plan and develop a children’s Christmas musical
